Vermont Tractor Pullers Association
VTPA POINTS PROGRAM
Points System
To qualify for points, the owner and primary driver MUST
be a member to participate AND MUST hook in at least
2/3 of the weight classes offered for the season.
1. A competition vehicle must be registered for the current
pulling season at the time of a given event in order to collect
points for that event.
2. Hook points shall be awarded to any registered vehicle that
has legally entered and passed vehicle inspection at that
sanctioned event.
3. VTPA will be using a 100 point system. Three points between
places. Last place will receive 30 points. Registration points
are 15. Hook points are 3, provided the competitor makes a
measureable pull (1” & more). Non-points competing vehicles in
the class will not be considered in the place points.
4. VTPA shall award points in the following manner:
1st – 100 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
118 points
2nd – 97 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
115 points
3rd – 94 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
112 points
4th – 91 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
109 points
5th – 88 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
106 points
6th – 85 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
103 points
7th – 82 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
100 points
8th - 79 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
97 points
9th – 76 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
94 points
10th – 73 place points + 3 hook points + 15 registration points =
91 points
Etc.
5. A vehicle may collect points in more than one division that it is
legal to run in.
6. If the end of the season points race results in a tie, it will be
broken by comparing the number of 1st place finishes during the
season. If a tie still exists, 2nd place finishes, etc. will be
counted until the tie is broken.
7. If the competitor breaks during the previous session of the
same event and he cannot repair, he will receive registration
points for the following session in the same event. If a refund is
issued, no registration points will be awarded.
8. If in a pull-off, a competitor is not broken and refuses to come
back in the pull-off, this competitor will receive the points of the
highest competitor before the pull-off. The decision has to be
made before the pull-off begins.
9. On a second pull-off, if all competitors qualified for the second
pull-off wish not to hook, then points and purse will be split
between the competitors who are qualified for the second pull-
off.
10. If a pull-off is not completed because of rain, curfew, etc.,
the points and purse for the positions involved will be divided
evenly among all those qualified in the pull-off.
11. When disqualified in a class, a competitor will receive hook
points and place points and purse for last place. (i.e. 10
competition, (points and non-points) vehicles registered in class,
disqualified competitor will receive 10th place points and purse).
12. In any class that couldn’t be completed or cancelled, all
competitors entered in that class with the competition vehicle on
site and ready to compete will receive registration points only.
13. Promoter, event director, and head track official shall
determine when an event must be stopped because of inclement
weather, track conditions, or equipment malfunctions.
14. If the promoter adds unscheduled classes, including
inclement weather classes, to those already scheduled, the
unscheduled classes or rained-out classes will be held following
the scheduled classes, except for pull-offs; in that case points
classes will be run first.
15. If a session is cancelled prior to its start and the promoter
retains no ticket revenue, competitors will receive refund of paid
entry fees and registration points will be given.
16. If a session is cancelled by promoter and the promoter
retains ticket revenue, competitors will receive registration points
and entry fees will be refunded.
17. If a class is stopped because of inclement weather or
equipment breakage, and has to be restarted, the class will be
restarted in its original order. If one or more vehicle member of
the club is broken and cannot come back, all the registered
vehicles will receive the registration points only, and the purse
will be given as the new class final positions, the broken vehicles
will have a measurement of 1”.
18. Any class not completed for any reason will be treated as a
rained-out class. During an equipment breakage that cannot be
fixed, all competitors in that class will split evenly the cumulative
of the purses and points.
19. Points are awarded to competition vehicle not driver. Points
will be awarded at all VTPA events except for VT V8 Class A
Mini’s where points will only be awarded when a purse is paid
out to them.
