Stock Antique Tractors
Driver Eligibility:
1. General rules apply
2. Driver must be 16 yr of age or older. Those under 18 yrs of age must have written parental/guardian permission.
3. Youth Tractor Safety Certification holders (must provide certificate) will be allowed to pull.
Safety:
1. Wheelie Bars and skid shoes MANDATORY and must meet VTPA specifications (refer to diagram in back of book).
2. Vehicle is RECOMMENDED to have at least a fully charged 2 ½ lb B/C fire extinguisher on board in reach of operator. A functional
gauge on the fire extinguisher is required.
Chassis-Engines:
1. Stock, out of the field antique farm tractors, 1960 or older.
2. No cut or ground tires: no duals, studs or chains.
3. 2 WD (4 WD with front disengaged).
4. No alternate fuels: original equipment only.
5. Must be equipped with hood and grill.
6. No pulling from 3-point hitch or third links (except for Ford Ferguson). Draw bars must be stationery in all directions.
7. Must have working PTO, if originally equipped with one.
8. Governor bypass or over speeding prohibited. 700 PTO RPM maximum.
9. If dyno is present at event you may be asked to hook to it.
10. Torque amplifiers only as original equipment.
11. Must have working rear brakes.
12. Tractors must have stock frame, transmission, rear end and axle housing. Front axles must be safe, sturdy and similar to stock
with a stock wheel base. Crank cases must bolt to transmission in a stock appearing manner, be of the same manufacturer as the
original crank case, and be of the same number of cylinders as the original make and model of the tractor. Heads, blocks (jugs) and
manifolds must be of the same manufacturer as the crank case or that of a recognized replacement manufacturer. Series engine
must match series of tractor.
Hitches:
1. Maximum draw bar height: 20” to top of fixed hitch (clevis is not the fixed point).
2. Minimum draw bar length 18” behind center line of axle.
3. Maximum draw bar length 36” behind centerline of axle.
4. Equipped with a hitch point with a minimum 3” x 3 ¾” opening (standard or twisted clevis excepted).
Tires:
1. Rubber tired standard Ag tread, set in forward rotation.
2. Steel wheels (cleated or lugged) permitted.
Added Weight:
1. Added weight and/or brackets securely attached to frame or wheels. None behind or above rear tires or over 24” ahead of frame.
Must not interfere with hitching. None on seat, platform, footrest, drawbar, 3-point links, or moved to another tractor in same class
under penalty of removal. Maximum width 10’: redi-rods or attaching bolts will NOT protrude more than 4” in heaviest weight class.
Any weight lost while hitched to sled DISQUALIFIES. Suitcase weights allowed.
2. Tractor weighed with operator and weighed prior to class. Weight classes- 2500, 3000, 3500, 4000, 4500, 5000, 5500, 6000, 7000,
8000, 9000, 10,000, 11,000, and 12,000 lbs with driver. All weight classes may not be offered at all events.
Misc:
1. Tractor may be entered in no more than 2 classes per event-once per class: no switching of operators within classes. At the
discretion of the officials, additional hooks maybe allowed if not enough participants.
2. Competition rules (not safety rules) are frozen for three years (2014, 2015 and 2016 pulling season).
Enhanced Antique Tractors
(Frozen 2014 - 2016)
Driver Eligibility:
1. General rules apply
2. Driver must be 16 yr of age or older. Those under 18 yrs of age must have written parental/guardian permission.
Safety:
1. All tractors must have a dead man throttle and working safety kill switch. Wheelie bars are mandatory per VTPA design
specifications (refer to diagram in back of book). Wide front ends, fenders, use of seatbelts and use of rev limiters are highly
recommended. All tractors MUST cover the clutch housing with an approved scatter safety blanket. Steel fly wheels are highly
recommended.
2. All tractors must have side shields of at least .060” metal. Enhanced electrical systems permitted in all classes. Rev limiters are
allowed as a governor. All tractors must have a positive throttle stop with a fully operational governor.
3. Vehicle MUST have a 2 ½ pound B/C fire extinguisher, fully charged, with working gauge and be placed convenient to operator.
4. All enhanced antique tractors must have air shut off (diesel) or ignition shutoff (gasoline) that has a hook-up ring at the rear of the
tractor to be connected to transfer sled. Kill switch must be 6” of center with no more than 48” above hitch. It is MANDATORY that
an electric assist fuel pump be tied to the kill switch.
Chassis-Engines:
1. Tractors must have stock frame, transmission, rear end and axle housing. Front axles must be safe, sturdy and similar to stock with
a stock wheel base. Crank cases must bolt to transmission in a stock appearing manner, be of the same manufacturer as the original
crank case, and be of the same number of cylinders as the original make and model of the tractor. Heads, blocks, (jugs) and
manifolds must be of the same manufacturer as the crank case or that of a recognized replacement manufacturer. Series engine
must match series of tractor.
2. Tractors must be naturally aspirated. No turbos or blowers, except two stroke GM diesels.
3. Any integral plate, girdles or reinforcement devices that enhance rigidity and improve safety will be allowed. Deck plates can be
no thicker than 1” material. Girdles can be no thicker than 1” material. Spacer plates can be no thicker than 2” combined.
4. Any updraft agricultural type carburetor will be allowed. Diesel tractors may be converted to gas as long as they use gas heads.
5. Speed: Any gear, any speed. Shifting of TA’s allowed.
Hitches:
1. Draw bar must not exceed 20” in height with a 3” x 3 ¾” opening. Draw bars must be stationery in all directions. No clevises.
There will be a dead man zone of 3” on either side of draw bar. Minimum length of draw bar is 18” from center line of axle housing
and a maximum of 36” from centerline of axle housing.
Tires:
1. No steel lug wheels. 2WD drive only. No duals. Any cut allowed on tires.
Added Weight:
1. Weights must not extend rearward beyond rear tires and cannot be more than 11’ from the center of the rear axle to the furthest
point forward. Weight Classes- 6000 lbs and 7000 lbs with driver
Misc:
1. Competition rules (not safety rules) are frozen for three years- 2014, 2015, and 2016 pulling season.
